School Counselling

Keeping in view the stressors contributed by the fast paced life in the metropolis of Dubai, the Counselling Department at ASPS was established as the school began to expand.

The services of the Counselling Department at ASPS is a support system for all the stakeholders of the school. Students, Parents and staff have access to consultations with the Counsellor. Students across their school years are benefited non-judgemental support and a listening ear.

The Counselling Department works closely with the Special Education Needs(SEN) Department providing support for students with exclusively social and emotional needs as well as those with academic needs.

Care is taken to accommodate a suitable time slot so that students will not miss instruction time in the classroom. Referrals to the Counsellors may come from the parents, teachers or the students themselves.

The Counselling Department also does periodic workshops for all the stake holders on relevant topics to improve the quality of life for all concerned. The Counsellor serves the liaison to make external referrals in cases that are beyond the scope of school counseling.

Student Council

The ASPS Student Council is a group of students that are elected as leaders by their peers. They represent the entire student body both inside and outside the school and act as the student voice. They also act as role models for all students and help organise and carry out events.

These students will be the role models for all students at ASPS. They will promote the student voice on various platforms, represent the students and the school during formal events. The students leadership will also be responsible in  planning, organising, and carrying out activities focused on improving student wellbeing. They will also be responsible for chairing the student council meetings and oversee matters related to the whole school.

The Head of Students’ leadership responsibility involves voicing the student perspective to the Senior Leadership Team and representing the student body on the Governor Advisory Board.

ASPS House System (House Colours)

Students from Year 3 above are divided into houses. Each House is a team that works together to collect points. Students earn points for their houses for positive behaviour, participation in events and activities, special accomplishments and more. Since each house includes students from Year 3 to 7, the house system is giving students the opportunity to work together, creating a cohesive environment and ensuring that age is not a barrier to friendship and collaboration. This reflects the life that we are preparing our students for outside of ASPS, nowhere beyond the confines of a classroom will they be required to interact with those only of their own age.

The House Leaders act as point of contact for the students in their house. They are responsible for coordinating and organising house specific events and activities and encouraging students and staff participation.
