Principals Message
Dear parents, students and wider members of the community,
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Welcome to Al Salam!
My name is Mr. Kifaya and it makes me so proud to lead this very special community as the Principal. A warm welcome!
As you browse our website and learn more about us, may I share here what we hope to achieve for our students and why.

My own life has taught me clearly that everyone has the capacity to achieve. This lesson fuels my commitment to nurture every student’s potential, an idea that has been central to my own success. More than 20 years of interaction with children as a youth worker, teacher, consultant and principal has taught me a key lesson. Once you understand a child’s needs, growth knows no boundaries. Our duty is therefore to understand and unlock that potential in each and every child.
It is this same belief that forms the heart of Al Salam’s belief when we say ‘every child is special’.
At Al Salam Community, we have three values that underpin how we work together as staff, students and parents:
1. Putting Children First – The Main Goal
At Al Salam, one of our core values is to put our students first. That means they should be at the heart of every decision we make. Their voice matters, their presence matters, and their leadership can make all the difference. Building strong relationships is key, especially with those who may not be forthcoming. All students deserve our understanding and care. With over 60 different nationalities, we embrace diversity and wish for an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and loved.
2. Making Al Salam Home – Our People Strategy
Great schools are built on great people. Our teachers are more than educators; they’re mentors, guides, and inspirations. We believe in supporting our staff, trusting them, and fostering a positive environment. Our collective effort, guided by research, creates a learning environment that empowers both students and teachers.
As for parents, they join us because we are a trusted name with more than 35 years of experience in Dubai running schools. Over the years, parents have told us our strengths and we have committed to provide the same formula for years to come. High academic results, an Islamic ethos and a protected environment have become that tradition.
This has all made Al Salam a home for so many generations of parents and staff in Dubai. This makes us proud!
3. ‘Everyday is a Learning Day’ – Preparing for Tomorrow’s World
In this ever-evolving 21st century, our mission is to prepare students for jobs and industries that have yet to emerge.
A quote from Arabic tradition “ربوا أولادكم لزمان غير زمانكم فزمانهم غير زمانكم”, “Prepare your children for a world different to your world, because their world is not your world” rings true for this.
It can’t just be about learning textbooks, facts and figures. It’s also about empowering students with skills, behaviours and competencies that transcend time, enabling them to thrive in any situation. Our school offering strives to serve this purpose and ensures everyday is a learning day.
Nurturing Holistic Excellence
Our students are not just learners; they are creators, athletes, artists, and community builders. We believe in nurturing a well-rounded individual.
We believe that students should be strong in the basics of reading and writing (yes that’s still relevant!) and in multiple languages too. Learning should be blended but in favour of digital solutions more than manual ones. Students should complement the arts with sciences, academics with sport and activities. They should apply religion, culture, heritage and maintain tradition.
Students should consider it cool to care and understand the importance of emotional intelligence for themselves and others. They should be fine individuals who have impeccable manners and are the pride of our communities.
Leadership with a Moral Compass
Our school leaders focus on creating an environment where all students are challenged to be the best they can be, where teachers are nurtured professionally, and challenges are met with solutions. Great leadership fosters positive change, and we believe in internal accountability first to drive our commitment to excellence.
As Principal, I believe in a sacred responsibility to lead the school with servitude to our community. I take inspiration from the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him):
“خَيْرُ النَّاسِ أَنْفَعُهُمْ لِلنَّاسِ”
“The best people are most helpful to people.”
(Al-Bukhari)
This is what drives me to achieve every day and ensure our children thrive.
I hope you will support us in our vision, and I look forward to speaking to you in school soon.
وبالله التوفيق
Sincerely

Kifaya Khan
