A Global Community

Al Salam has been at the heart of the community for over thirty five years.  As a community school, our diverse student and parent population is indicative of Dubai: a global community.  We have nearly 50 nationalities attending our school and this is increasing.  Our international staff body also reinforces the diversity of the UAE, with staff from over 10 nationalities.

Alumni – Lifelong association

When our students leave Al Salam, they remain part of our Alumni and are invited to contribute to students’ experiences through presentations, discussions and internships.  The aim is to form a bridge from ASCS to the world of work and opportunity beyond school, to embody the life of the undergraduate, the postgraduate and the employee.  The stories shared by former students showcases the essence of lifelong learning.

Parent Partnerships

Our parents are an integral part of school life. Their interest in, and contribution to, their child’s learning is a major consideration. The school will involve parents fully and ensure they have accurate information and access that allows them to ask questions, raise issues and address concerns. Parents are regarded as the primary contributors to their children’s learning.

The Parent Council is called Friends of Al Salam (FASC) is responsible for organising community events to help parents engage with the school and social events to bring parents together.

Continual parent communication is important to the Al Salam Community. The school publishes a newsletter for parents, at least three times a year, will maintain an informal and friendly update each week using the web and social media, and will hold assemblies to celebrate the achievements of students, to which parents will be invited.

In our commitment to supporting the Emirati students, we have a bespoke Emirati Parent Group, called Watani.  Not only do they help support the learning and progress of Emirati students, this group offers more advice on enabling the whole school community to have a richer understanding of the UAE, our adopted place to live, work and learn.
